Taking In a Wedding Dress

The fit of your wedding dress is important to make sure you look and feel your best on your wedding day. Many brides need their wedding dress taking in before their big day, mostly because dresses are purchased so far in advance you are bound to change sizes before your wedding day. At AB Wedding Dress Alterations, we are experts in taking in wedding gowns, knowing everything you need to know about the delicate materials and how to work with them without creating any damage.

The Stages of Taking In a Wedding Dress

Pinning

The process will start with a completely free consultation where we will let you know the costs and what needs to be done to the gown. Once this has been agreed upon, we will be able to pin your gown to you, both giving us a guide of what needs to be done and giving you an idea of what the finished gown will look like.

Alterations

After your first appointment, it is time for us to get to work. Our professional bridal seamstresses will begin altering your dress, the method we use would depend on how much of your gown needs to be taken in. We will delicately work from the seams of your dress, so that when the alterations are complete, there is no way you would be able to tell the dress had ever been taken apart.

Fitting

We will complete the agreed work prior to your next fitting so you can try on your altered gown. This appointment allows us to see if the dress fits you correctly or if any more work needs to be undertaken. It is also a chance for you to let us know if there is anything else you want changing before your final fitting, which will be a couple of weeks before your wedding day.
